Councilmember Rashi Kesarwani's District 1 seat is up for grabs this Nov. 3 election. D1 runs right through the waterfront, encompassing the central and north sections of the waterfront technically but is integrally connected to the whole area. We asked all five candidates to share their visions and approach to waterfront issues. We will post responses as we receive them.

Laura Babitt attended the Berkeley Historical Society's Ferry Forum event in August and toured the waterfront with BWCC. She shares these thoughts about the waterfront:
supports low-cost public access to the waterfront.
supports development that builds on the nature-based recreation and well-being benefits the waterfront offers now to Berkeley residents and beyond.
seeks to find alternatives to costly projects (like the current WETA-Berkeley ferry proposal) that would disadvantage Berkeley taxpayers for decades.
committed to meaningful public engagement and greater transparency in Berkeley politics.
